OUR SPLEDID PAST ....

THE COMEDY ACADEMY, Inc. (TCA) of Silver Spring, MD was a not-for-profit organization that conducted creative after school theater programs that enabled middle and high school students to annually create and perform original sketch comedy and original one-act comedies.  Written by students or club leaders, all of this comedy material was based on student-generated ideas. Students drew from their own experiences to develop scripts that poked fun at bullies, parents, teachers, fads, fashions, school dances, testing, computer games, TV shows, movies, report cards, siblings, and gossip.

From 1995 until 2007, we worked primarily with middle school students.  In 2007 we expanded to include working with high school students

This work in the schools continued until 2012, culminating in a new comedy written by Harry M. Bagdasian and Liam Brennan that was presented in the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC at The Studio Theatre.  It was the perfect culminating project because the comedy entitled "HeHEE! or "What? It's Not Glee?" poked fun of what we did ... creating comedy about and for the school system.

OUR EXCITING FUTURE
Now that our student/writer/performers are young adults, they wish to continue doing original comedy.  So we have decided that we will collectively lampoon our 17 years of comedy club programs, ourselves and the schools in which we worked via the web.  To do this, we are launching The Chuckles University.  TCU has no affiliation with any school, church, government agency or other outstanding organizations what so ever.
