THE COMEDY ACADEMY, Inc. (TCA) of Silver Spring, MD is a not-for-profit organization that conducts creative after school theater programs that enable middle and high school students to annually create and perform original sketch comedy and original one-act comedies. Written by students or club leaders, all of this comedy material is based on student-generated ideas. Students draw from their own experiences to develop scripts that poke fun at bullies, parents, teachers, fads, fashions, school dances, testing, computer games, TV shows, movies, report cards, siblings, and gossip.
From 1995 until 2007, we have worked primarily with middle school students. In 2007 we expanded to include working with high school students.
