And more comic material to finally premiere at Northwood High School

Twenty new comedy sketches, eight short comic videos & three original comic song parodies will premiere when the Comedy Club at Northwood finally presents “SERIOUSLY FUNNY: A Comedy Club Cabaret” on Thursday, April 16 & Friday, April 17th at 7:30 pm in the media center at Northwood High School.  Tickets are available at the door for $3.00 students, $5.00 for all others.  More information is at www.ourlaughingmatters.com.

Originally schedule to premiere last month, the Comedy Club ensemble voted to postpone the show after four students in the eighteen-member cast were declared academically ineligible to perform in the show.  A majority of the students felt they had put a great deal of time into creating and rehearsing the material and did not want to offer a watered down public performance.  The show was, therefore, postponed until everyone returned from Spring break, the grading period was over and the four students had brought their grades up and were deemed academically eligible to rejoin the ensemble.

For the first time in Comedy Club history, the show will feature original comic songs.  Josh Rosen has written and will perform “Taco Bell Canon,” “First Kiss” and “High School Dance.”

In this, the Comedy Club program’s 14th production, the material ranges from game shows … Peter Walderhaug’s “Are You Smarter than A Fifth Grader?” & Josh Rosen’s “Smells Like Cafeteria Food To Me” … to TV parodies like Leah & Rachel Solomon’s “Hell’s Library” (a takeoff on “Hell’s Kitchen), Harry Bagdasian’s Thunder Valley 28751 (a takeoff on reality TV shows) and John Kilmer’s “Student Types.”  Several sketches satirize school life including Sara Mozersky’s “The Science Class Safety Quiz”, Liam Brennan & John Kilmer’s “No Pass? Back To Class,” and Josh Rosen’s “Teacher Types.”  Comedy videos include Josh Rosen’s “The Vatican City Olympic Team” and Sara Mozersky’s “School Safety Top Hot Line.”  There’s also a sketch by Peter Walderhaug in which a young student only speaks to her mother using “I.M. Speak” and a sketch by Leah & Rachel Solomon that uses one word: “dude.”

Directed by Comedy Club co-founder Harry M. Bagdasian and Beck Krefting, with an assist from comedian/writer Austen Villemez, the Comedy CLub ensemble for this year’s show includes Liam Brennan, Conor Brennan, Avery Chiasson, Emma Glaser, Noely Jacobs, Matthias Kelderman, John Kilmer, Kady Kilmer, Jessica Linger, Sara Mozersky, Jody Mozersky, Jonathan Rabinovich, Michael Rine, Josh Rosen, Christine Scullen, Leah Solomon, James Syverson, A. J. Walderhaug, Peter Walderhaug and Maryanne Weaver.  Costumes are by Tish Hall and props by Robbie McEwen.

“SERIOUSLY FUNNY: A Comedy Club Cabaret” will be preformed at 7:30 pm on Thursday, April 16 and Friday, April 17 at 7:30 PM in the Northwood High School Media Center.  Tickets are $3.00 for students and $5.00 for all others.
